Pym Island
Attawapiskat River

Pym Island outpost

Hearst Air Service, in co-operation with Attawaspiskat & Albany River Outdoor Adventures is pleased to offer a spectacular far-north fishing adventure to the remote Attawapiskat River / Pym Island outpost where trophy northern pike and walleyes abound. This is the fishing trip of a lifetime !

The Attawapiskat River is well known among serious pike fishermen across North America. Its waters flow more than halfway across Northern Ontario to Hudson Bay and the river is home to both trophy pike and walleye - a combination rarely found elsewhere.

The river offers all types of waters. Choose from calm bays or fast flowing rapids. Calm pools located throughout the river hold numerous walleyes 5 lb& up. There are many tributaries flowing into the Attawapiskat River that also provide great fishing. A fishing trip on the Attawapiskat river will amaze even the most discriminating anglers and make them long for more.

However, you may choose a non-guided trip to Pym Island in which case the staff at Hearst Air will thoroughly go over a map of the river, pointing out key spots, structure, depths and boating hazards so as to avoid accidents and / or damage to equipment.

The 2-bedroom log cabin on Pym Island is newly built and located 200 miles north of the Carey Lake airbase. It is ideally located to access the best areas of the Attawapiskat River. Camp accommodations include a brand new, 3-bedroom, upright-log cabin equipped with electricity, stoves, fridges, hot water, showers and (if needed) a satellite phone for emergency communications, making this a "roughing it in style" fishing experience of a lifetime ! Pym Island is the ultimate trophy pike and trophy walleye fishing opportunity !

This unique fishing adventure is a guided trip and HK arrangements. The Attawapiskat River is remote and unspoiled - near virgin waters offering spectacular trophy fishing 200 miles north of Hearst Air's Carey lake airbase on Hwy. # 11.

Guests provide food, beverages, clothing & personal items, toiletries, sleeping bags, fitted certified PFDs, fishing gear, waders, camera and lots of film !

Guests eat when they want - there is no fixed schedule / agenda. In addition to putting anglers on trophy fish, an experienced guide(s) will also prepare meals and shore lunches at the convenience of guests.

A guide is included (min. of 1 guide for six (6) persons) and will use either sturdy and comfortable 16-foot aluminum boats or 20-foot freighter canoes.

Guide Harry Baxter is a long-time friend and trusted partner of Hearst Air. His knowledge of the river is unsurpassed and his passion for sharing this fishing hotspot is immediately evident and appreciated by the anglers he guides. Having an experienced guide on the Attawapiskat River is a real asset to anyone wanting to experience the best of the river.
